A baby Dragon does not receive its name until its first birthday. It is the Mama Dragon’s responsibility to pick a name that really fits. Instead of blowing out the candles, a baby Dragon must light his ‘Giant Birthday Cupcake’ with his very own fire. Therefore every Dragon’s first birthday is a very special occasion indeed! None are as special as the very first birthday of the Royal Dragon Prince.
As the Royal Dragon Prince’s first birthday approached, the Dragon Queen was a very worried Mama Dragon, because she just could not decide on a name that fit her precious little prince. Originally she had wanted to name him Harry, but Dragons aren’t hairy at all, so that name didn’t seem right. Then she had thought Rory would be a beautiful name. But her baby Dragon’s best ‘Roar’ sounded more like a cute little ‘rawrr’.
On the day of the big event the entire Royal Court gathered eager for the naming ceremony. Little did they know that the Dragon Queen still had not decided on a name. The Dragon Prince proudly climbed up on the podium, ready for his big moment. It took 20 royal staff to carry the giant cupcake, all frosted with fluffy white icing, up to the foot of the podium for the Royal Dragon Prince to light.
The little Dragon Prince inhaled deeply and began to build up his fire. He wished to produce the biggest flame anyone had ever seen. Unfortunately, in his eagerness, he leaned a little too far over and lost his balance. The poor little Dragon tumbled off the podium and landed right smack in the middle of his cupcake, knocking the fire right out of him in a pitifully silly little puff. The royal court held their breath; aghast at what had happened. The little Dragon looked around at everyone watching and thought how silly he must look sitting atop his birthday cupcake and he couldn’t help but giggle. He giggled, and giggled, and then his giggling turned into a deep belly laugh. Relieved that he was okay, everyone started laughing with him.
When the Mama Dragon saw her cute, funny, little Dragon Prince perched on top of his birthday cupcake she instantly knew the perfect name for him; ‘Sprinkles’. Now all royal cupcakes are topped with fancy colored sprinkles in honour of the Royal Dragon Prince.
